    Leadership Series
    Session 2:

    10:15 AM - 11:15 AM

    Presented by Ashley Smalley

    Topic: Time Management Techniques

In this session, we will crowd-source a variety of time management techniques and tools, allowing consideration for various thinking styles. This approach will keep many from re-inventing the wheel, while others will say, “AHA!” for the very first time.

    Luncheon Hour:

    11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

    Presented by Jeff Lay

Topic: From Conflict-Avoidant to Conflict-Capable: Building
Organizations That Navigate Hard Conversations Well

Most organizations don't have a conflict problem. They have a conflict-avoidance problem. And the cost is showing up on the balance sheet.

Unresolved conflict costs organizations 2-3 hours of lost productivity per employee per week. It drives up to 50% of voluntary turnover. And the expense to replace a single departed employee can reach 50-200% of their annual salary. These aren't culture issues. They're business issues — and they belong in the boardroom, not just the HR office.

But here's what most leadership teams get wrong: they try to eliminate conflict. The organizations that actually win are the ones that learn to navigate it.

This session makes the case for building Conflict-Capable organizations — teams and cultures where hard conversations happen early, honestly, and without lasting damage to relationships or performance. Attendees will leave with a clear framework for diagnosing where conflict-avoidance is costing their organization most, practical language and tools for navigating difficult conversations at every level of leadership, and a strategic roadmap for shifting organizational culture from reactive to proactive on conflict.

    Luncheon:

    Presented by: Mark McKendrick

    Topic: The Miracle Making Business

The US healthcare system is complex and confusing - I hope to provide confidence and clarity to HR professionals and everyday employees.

My presentation shares the health journey of my father as a high-cost claimant after contracting COVID in 2021. His story is nothing short of a miracle, and I am able present the importance of knowing how to navigate our healthcare system as a patient and a decision-maker for employees.

I cover how the US healthcare system was established, how companies finance healthcare, and the importance of effectively navigating our healthcare system for the wellbeing of ourselves and our employees.
