Position Description:
MHMR is looking for a detailed, oriented Health Information Management Coordinator to join our team. Responsible for processing requests for release of information from the official client (medical) records of MHMR of Tarrant County. All work is carried out in accordance with the Health Information Management (HIM) Department’s approved Operating Procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

A) Processes requests for release of information for MHMRTC by receiving and processing all incoming written requests within departmental guidelines, completing copying of documentation through photocopying, or scanning images for release of information.

B) Reviews requests for information for need and adequacy of authorizations, including identifying clients through computer and client record verification procedures and requiring compliance with the use of approved authorization forms.

C) Prepares responses appropriate to each request by contacting all requestors through phone, in person, or by letter to acknowledge receipt of the request and the status of the processing of each request. Place a copy of the release of information summary in the correspondence section of each client’s record for each completed request.

D) Calculates, collects, and transmits fees associated with the release of information by accurately calculating the copying fees to be paid by the requestor and identifying and collecting billable copying fees.

E) Maintains release of information data used to track the status of each request.

F) Promotes public relations through prompt and courteous service by completing authorized requests for release of information within department guidelines and performing Release of Information duties with no more than 3 verified customer complaints annually (verified by Coordinator of HIM).

G) Fosters respect for client privacy by maintaining confidentiality in all phases of work and ensuring no unauthorized releases of information to requestors occur.

I) Performs other job duties or responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferences: Two (2) years’ experience in a medical office or chartroom setting
  • License/Certifications: Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Salary: $21.50
