What We Do

FWHR is excited to volunteer for Quality Control (QC) at Tarrant Area Food Bank's distribution center, where donated food products are sorted, inspected, and repacked for distribution to a network of partner organizations in a 13-county area. Volunteers in Quality Control make a BIG impact by helping to ensure that our neighbors in need receive safe, quality food. Volunteers’ roles may include but are not limited to:

  • Sorting, cans, grocery items and packaged meats
  • Preparing boxes
  • Manual pallet jack operating
  • Sweeping/Mopping
  • Pallet wrapping using shrink wrap
  • Taking cardboard to onsite compactor

Please note the following:

  • Individuals as young as 12 years old and 55 inches tall may volunteer in QC. Children ages 12-13 require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 3 children volunteering.
  • Kids ages 14-15 years old require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 10 youth.
  • Because Tarrant Area Food Bank is concerned about the safety of all volunteers, there are no exceptions to this policy.
