What We Do:
FWHR is excited to volunteer for Quality Control (QC) at Tarrant Area Food Bank's distribution center, where donated food products are sorted, inspected, and repacked for distribution to a network of partner organizations in a 13-county area. Volunteers in Quality Control make a BIG impact by helping to ensure that our neighbors in need receive safe, quality food. Volunteers’ roles may include but are not limited to:
· Sorting, cans, grocery items and packaged meats
· Preparing boxes
· Manual pallet jack operating
· Sweeping/Mopping
· Pallet wrapping using shrink wrap
· Taking cardboard to onsite compactor
Please note the following:
· Individuals as young as 12 years old and 55 inches tall may volunteer in QC. Children ages 12-13 require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 3 children volunteering.
· Kids ages 14-15 years old require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 10 youth.
· Because Tarrant Area Food Bank is concerned about the safety of all volunteers, there are no exceptions to this policy.
