Title: No Union, No Problem…Right?
What Non-Union Employers Need to Know about the NLRA



Speaker: Timothy L Watson

Timothy Watson will discuss how Non-Union employers are affected by the National Labor Relations Act which encourages collective bargaining by workers. The NLRA does not apply only to collective bargaining/unionized environments, and he will explain relevant portions of the law. Watson will share about current hot topics such as the unionization of some Starbucks and Apple stores.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand relevant portions of NLRA to non-union employers
  • Understand how the NLRB and DOL work together
  • Understand broad affects of current unionizing efforts

BIO: Timothy L. Watson was appointed Regional Director of the NLRB’s Regional Office in Fort Worth, Texas (Region 16) in 2017. He began his career with the NLRB in 1988 as a Field Attorney in Region 16. In 1999, he was promoted to Deputy Regional Attorney in Region 16. In 2006, Mr. Watson was appointed the Regional Attorney in Region 16. In his capacity as Regional Attorney, Mr. Watson served as Region 16’s chief legal counsel.

A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Watson earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

BIO: Since 1995 Dan Dalton has worked in various HR roles as Trainer, Recruiter, HR Generalist, Manager and Employee Relations Consultant, and most recently as Director.

Dan has worked in the Banking industry with JP Morgan Chase and Southwest Bank, the retail industry with Neiman Marcus and the health care industry with, Texas Health Resources, Voyager Hospice Care, McKesson Specialty Health, Texas Oncology and EVP Eye Care. Dan has facilitated in the professional certification training class for the Fort Worth HR (FWHR). Dan has held a Human Resources professional certification since 2005 and presently holds a HRCI Senior HR Professional (SPHR) certification as well as a SHRM SCP certification.

Dan earned a BBA in Marketing with a minor in Economics from Southwestern University and a MS in HR Management from UTA. Dan has served with FWHR as board member and Past President, and also as a member of the Board of Directors of the Christian Women’s Job Corp of Greater Arlington.

Dan has been a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington since 1996 and is a Deacon and member of the Choir. Dan has also served on the Personnel Committee. Dan has been married to Brandi since 1986 and has a son, Calvin James (CJ, Daughter in law Caiti and Grandson Cannon.

  • Masks are highly encouraged. Forgot a mask and need one? No worries, we will have them at the door.
  • "Social stickers" will be provided for your nametag to indicate your individual preference: Red = no contact, green = comfortable with contact.
  • If you are sick and/or have been exposed to someone with COVID please stay home. We will miss you, but there will be plenty of opportunities to attend a FWHR in-person event.
  • We are encouraging social distancing by seating 6 to a table instead of 8.

Reservations / Cancellations

All registrations must be received before close of business on the Monday prior to the event. Thereafter, a limited number of registrations will be accepted at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Please understand that you cannot be guarantee seat at the meeting if you do not register by the Monday preceding the event. If you can't make the event, please let us know 72 hours beforehand by sending an email to info@fwhr.org, so that we can cancel your registration. Otherwise, we will bill you for the reservation (we pay the venue based on the number of attendees reserved - including no-shows). Refund requests or any financial matters relating to this event should be directed to treasurer@fwhr.org. 

Use of Materials

By attending an event affiliated with Fort Worth HR (“FWHR”), attendees consent and agree to being photographed and/or videoed.
