Title: OFCCP/Affirmative Action Updates
Speaker: Terri Swain

Changes are coming from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).  Hold on to your seat's ladies and gentlemen.  This session will address the numerous game changers occurring for federal contractors and subcontractors under the Biden Administration. These changes include a certification process, new census data, changes in emphasis areas and a more data driven organization.  Combined with EEO-1 reporting and various state pay reporting practices, compliance practices will be front and center.

Key Learnings:

  • How do I know if I am a federal contractor or subcontractor?
  • What are key changes I need to be aware of under the new administration?
  • How you can leverage your DEI initiatives with your AAP obligations.

Bio: Terri Swain is the founder and managing partner of DecipHR, a Fort Worth based, consulting firm specializing in Equal Employment Opportunity investigations and employee relations support.  Additionally, she is a senior consultant with OutSolve, a leader in Affirmative Action planning and government reporting. Prior to her consulting role, she had Fortune 200 human resource leadership experience in the areas of employee relations, human resource planning, and training and development.  Terri began her career in human resources via government compliance as an investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

In her role as a compliance expert, she has written many Affirmative Action plans and streamlined the AAP process; assisted companies through Department of Labor audits; served as an expert witness in EEO cases; and conducted third-party discrimination, harassment and employee relations investigations.

Luncheon:

Title: Self Care for HR Pros
Speaker: Justin Dorsey

The past two years have been extremely difficult for HR professionals, and many do not recognize the impact it has taken on mental, emotional, and even physical health. In order to support their organization, HR pros must also learn how to take care of themselves. The goal of this presentation is to increase awareness of burnout and stress in the workplace while developing a strategy to move forward in a healthier direction.

Key Learnings:

  • Recognize and discuss the impact of the pandemic on HR professionals
  • Understand the warning signs of burnout and stress in the workplace
  • Finding or creating peace in a time of uncertainty and constant change
  • Develop a strategy and plan to relax and recharge without just running away
  • Focus on building a community of support and accountability

Bio: After graduating from Texas Tech with a degree in Sociology, Justin Dorsey attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth to study Marriage and Family Counseling. While attending graduate school, he worked part time at Cellular World in the accounting department. When a position became available in Human Resources it seemed like a much better fit for his background. Since he lacked formal training in HR, Justin decided to attend courses at UTA to learn the basics of the role so that he could pursue certification. He has worked in a variety of industries including retail, health care, food and beverage distribution, and engineering. His primary focus is to enhance the candidate and employee experience throughout the lifecycle of their employment. From 2017-2018, he was blessed with the opportunity to serve as the President of Fort Worth HR. In 2019 he was recognized by the Fort Worth Business Press in their Top 40 under 40 program.
