Topic: Legal Ramifications Being Raised in Challenges to
‘Critical Race Theory’ in Diversity Trainings

In 2020, President Trump issued an Executive Order (E.O.) prohibiting government employers as well as private sector employers with federal contracts from engaging in workplace training allegedly based upon “Critical Race Theory (CRT).” Although this E.O. was rescinded by President Biden, the groundswell of local and private efforts attacking various aspects of anti-racism workplace training presents new and interesting legal challenges for employers and human resource professional engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This presentation will discuss legal and human resource concerns related to DEI workplace training given the ongoing CRT critiques, challenges and bans.

Speaker Bio: 

A tenured member of the Texas A&M University School of Law full‐time faculty since its inception in 2013, he became the Inaugural Director of its Workplace Law Program in 2014. His scholarship addresses workplace disputes and the intersection of race and alternatives to the court resolution process. He teaches Employment Discrimination Law, Employment Law, Labor Law, ADR in the Workplace, and Evidence. He has authored scores of scholarly pieces on multiple subjects.

Topic: Crisis Management: How do we get there?

Join us as we learn about Crisis Management is an important aspect of every organizations prevention, response, and post event operational stand up to any type of emergency event. Today we deal with everything from pandemics, active shooters, civil unrest, and natural disasters. We must know how to respond differently and properly to every emergency. 

Objectives discussed: 

  • Learn about prevention of events
  • Learn how to respond using crisis management 
  • Learn the importance of post event reactions

Speaker Bio:

Ryan has 19 years of professional experience and spent almost a decade in the U.S. Army. After his military career, he worked as a contractor for the government, providing anti-terrorism and counter insurgency training for the different branches of the U.S. Military and foreign militaries. He conducted intelligence, counter terrorism, counter piracy, and foreign advisor operations across five continents. Ryan leverages his comprehensive background and certifications to provide various types of security assessments, security design, crisis management, active assailant, life safety, and enterprise wide security and risk management services for IMEG.

Thereafter, a limited number of registrations will be accepted at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Please understand that you cannot be guarantee seat at the meeting if you do not register by the Monday preceding the event. If you can't make the event, please let us know 72 hours beforehand by sending an email to info@fwhr.org, so that we can cancel your registration. Otherwise, we will bill you for the reservation (we pay the venue based on the number of attendees reserved - including no-shows).
