Presented by Julie B. Ross, Partner, Ross|Gannaway and long-time FWHR member

On June 15, 2020, the Supreme Court held in Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia that sexual orientation and gender identity are protected characteristics under Title VII. The law of the land is now is that "[a]n employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law.”  The ruling applies to employers and employees across the country and resolves a dispute among the federal circuits.  This is a historic victory for the LGBTQ community but is not without controversy. Julie will discuss the Court’s ruling and analysis and what it means for employers.
